Survivalists can be defined as a tough, bark-eating, do what you have to, to survive no matter who gets in the way. OR they can be thought of as those us still standing after the stuff hits the fan. I have often heard “only the strong will survive” but I do not believe that. I think those who prepare now will be the survivalists. We may not be the toughest, the most skilled in knives and guns or Rambo reincarnate, but those who plan their work and work their plan will have a chance also. Will you be there?
All successful folks will tell you the reason they are so successful is because they had goals, a plan and initiated action to follow up on those goals and plans. Most of us have been introduced to the idea of survival. If fact many of us consider ourselves survivalists in this world of dog eat dog today. Making ends meet is a part of survival today and has taught many of us the skills we would need to survival a disaster in the future, we just haven’t realized how educated we are in survival. When grocery money is scarce we stretch that dollar by substituting foods that will go a long way. We learn new ways of preparing foods that are cheaper and basic. Believe it or not, these are talents and abilities needed to survive a food crisis in a disaster. When we have a little excess money we have learned to buy extra foods on sale and stash them away for harder times. Another ingenious way of protecting our family and preparing for the future.
I really believe we are headed for much harder times. Be it a natural disaster, man-made disaster or economical fallout, we will need to hone our survival skills. We have those basic instincts and commonsense born to us and if we listen we can hear our internal voices telling us to wake up and pay attention. It is time to lift our eyes and sniff the air, listen to what nature is telling us, use the natural radar that we all have within. Sometimes the hardest part of creating a plan is getting started. My advice is take the skills you already have and put them to good use by preparing for whatever comes at us. Look around your home and find items that would be useful in a survival situation. Make a list of essential items that would be needed if electricity, fuel or communication was no longer available. Food items and their storage would be another concern to add to your list. What would you do for water? These are questions that you need to address and find solutions for before they are needed. Remember not only will the strong survive but those who are prepared will be among the survivalists also. Will you be there?
